About OCCC

2002 / design studies

The Oregon Coast Community College, headquartered in Newport, Oregon, is currently housed in a variety of inadequate leased facilities. Since its creation in 1987, the College has expanded its services from recreational “hobby” classes to a full-service community college with college transfer classes, professional/technical programs and workforce development training. With the expansion of its services and lack of adequate space we developed the new master plan for the Yaquina Bay campus in Newport, and satellite campuses in Waldport and Lincoln City. Programming, site analysis, building concepts, schedules and budgets were developed for the proposed $24 million development.

  • In South Beach, the Yaquina Center would house classrooms, labs (science, computer and art labs), vocational and trade shops, as well as student services, library and other instructional support functions.
  • In Waldport, the South County Center would have general education space, a computer lab, and training classrooms.
  • In Lincoln City, the Taft Center would be rebuilt to accommodate more students and programs.

Our firm worked with the College to develop promotional graphic materials in preparation for the bond election.
